Retail 2010 Exhibition The Retail 2010 Exhibition & Conference is the largest exhibition of its type in Australia. You will discover the latest in retail technology, shop-fitting, store equipment, design, digital signage, security technology, on-line retailing, retail business services and sustainability.
The exhibition will be running from Monday 20th – Wednesday 22nd September and will be held in Sydney. There are also still chances to exhibit on the floor, although floor space is limited so act quickly to secure a prime position!
Retail 2010 Conference The Retail 2010 Conference will feature two days of presentations, case studies and panel discussions with a focus on how the in-store environment remains a vital part of retail success. Key session themes include Branding, Shopper Marketing, People and Performance, Maximising Profitability, Multi-Channel Retailing and Effective In-Store Design.

Bike peddlers up for awards |

Sydney's flourishing bicycle retailers have been given their own category in the 2010 City of Sydney Business Awards.
More than 520 businesses have been nominated by voters for the awards final at a gala dinner on September 20.
The successful bike dealers are: Apres Velo, Bicycology Bike Brain, Cheeky Transport, Clarence St Cyclery, Jet Cycles and Rocket Fuel.
The six businesses with the most online or SMS votes in each category have qualified as finalists. More than twice as many members of the public have nominated their favourite business for this year's awards and 41,500 votes have already been tallied – an 18 per cent increase from 2009.

RCTA Life member Jack Walsh passed away recently in a Sydney nursing home. The following was penned by his son Greg, and appeared in The Age, Melbourne on August 9th.

JACK Walsh, who won a swag of Australian cycling titles and was thwarted from winning more, as well as Olympic representation because of World War II, has died in a Sydney nursing home. He was 89.
A product of the Depression, having left Christian Brothers College at Burwood in Sydney at age 13, he knew what hard work and dedication meant.

Online sales to grow in Australia |

Online retail in Australia is forecast to reach $33.8 billion by 2012, up from $24 billion last year, according to research commissioned by eBay, which owns PayPal.
The e-commerce business, which allows payments and money transfers to be made through the internet, said large Australian retailers such as Big W had extended their presence online, providing a boost to the industry.
However, PayPal Australia MD Frerk-Malte Feller said while the industry was growing, it still lagged behind the rest of the world.
Australia's domestic retail spend online is half of what it is in countries such as the UK and US, he says.

At the Cycling Promotion Fund Award presentation this morning in Canberra, the award for Contribution Towards Cycling by a Bicycle Retailer went to bikerepairs.com.au, of Marrickville in New South Wale.
Principal Edward Lancaster is an RCTA Board member and the RCTA joins in congratulating Edward on his work helping to raise the skill levels of bicycle mechanics, and his award. |
