Bicycle helmets regulation changes |

Compliance with AS/NZS 2063:1996—Pedal cycle helmets, Snell Standards 1995 and any other relevant standards will no longer be acceptable.
Under the Trade Practices Act, supply includes being in the business of:
- selling
- exchanging
- leasing or hiring out
- offering for sale through hire purchase.
This mandatory standard applies to anyone in the business of supplying bicycle helmets, including:
- manufacturers
- importers
- distributors
- retailers
- hirers.
The RCTA, in conjunction with a number of wholesalers, applied to the ACCC for an extension of time to allow stocks of the older standard helmet to be sold.
